Where we are
UNISS main campus is based in Sassari (population 130,000), the main city in the North of Sardinia. It lies on a range of hills overlooking the strait between Northern Sardinia and the Southern coast of Corsica. The island enjoys a mild and temperate climate during the whole year, being located in the middle of the Western Mediterranean sea and at a 225m altitude.
Temperatures rarely fall to 0°C (32° F) in winter and may reach 35-40°C (95-104°F) in summer. Trade, services and tourism are the core economic activities of the city and its province. Wine, olive oil, and meat products are still produced even near the suburbs of the city.
Educational, cultural, economic and health services are provided within the city centre.
Olbia - Nuoro - Oristano University Hubs
UNISS also includes three out-of-town campuses, which host some of the academic activities performed by the University Departments:
Olbia, the main industrial port city of North Sardinia, is located in the North-East of the island. Its aiport hosts a section of the Department of Business and Economics of the University of Sassari, devoted to the teaching and studying of tourism-related subjects. For further information, visit Olbia University Hub website.
Nuoro is a city located at the very heart of the island, on the verge of the National Park of Orosei and Gennargentu. The city hosts a University Hub that includes courses organized by the Departments of Agriculture, Law, and Medicine.
Oristano is a city that lies on the central West coast of the island. The CONSORZIO UNO University Hub hosts two courses organized by the Department of Agriculture, focusing on Food Technology and Wine Science.
The nearest seaport to Sassari is Porto Torres (about 20 Km from Sassari). Ferries sail from Genoa and Civitavecchia (Rome). The Porto Torres-Sassari stretch is served by a frequent bus service. You can also travel to other seaports of the island, such as Cagliari, Olbia or Arbatax, which are connected to Sassari by several bus and railway companies.
