Gloria Pungetti



Professor Gloria Pungetti is Chair of Biocultural Landscape and Seascape at the University of Sassari, Italy. She is also Founder Director of the Cambridge Center for Landscape and People and Chair of the Darwin College Society, University of Cambridge, UK. She coordinates international initiatives and European projects on holistic landscape research, is editor-in-chief of IMIC Journal by Elsevier, and sits on boards of journals and international working groups, including Biocultural Landscape and Seascape by IALE International.


Recognition and understanding of the natural and cultural values of landscape, seascape, heritage, species and their ecosystems are fundamental in holistic landscape research. The Biocultural Landscape and Seascape research group, chaired by Prof Pungetti, aims to support the link between ecological and cultural diversity, and to demonstrate ways in which biocultural landscape can contribute to the conservation of both nature and culture. The group is linked to the Center for Biocultural Landscape and Seascape, IALE International, and the Universities of Sassari, Bologna and Cambridge.
