Knowledge and know-how:
Knowledge is acquired by interdisciplinary approach that allows to learn issues on biotechnological applications and innovation. During internship students follow laboratory activities under a scientific tutor and show the comprehension ability with reports on the laboratory experiences. The student-teacher interaction, during the laboratory work, is fundamental. Knowledge is verified by oral examinations, or ongoing trials, or reports on the design/execution of laboratory experiments. A final proof, discussed by the candidate during the sitting of degree, is evaluated.
Ability to apply knowledge and know-how:
The training organization is aimed to give knowledge and skills to address and solve problems through multidisciplinary biotechnological approaches. The students learn and apply biochemical and molecular biology techniques, recombinant DNA technology and prokaryotic/eukaryotic cell engineering. In the last year, they deal with topics on microbial biotechnology (fermentation, molecular/immuno-diagnostics of infectious diseases, immunoprophylaxis). Maturity, learning degree and critical skills on the topics being studied are verified by oral exams or written reports.
