The profession of biologist applies to a range of different disciplines. Sectors can range from the human or animal to botanical field: environmental protection, nutrition, microbiology protection, basic and applied research.
Position-related skills:
The acquired skills allow graduates to engage in a number of areas, both as laboratory biologist or as a research biologist. Advanced courses and post-graduate specialization both in Italy and abroad, or application to a PhD programme may facilitate access to work. Teaching is a further job opportunity.
Career opportunities:Laboratory biologist: access to microbiological, chemistry and clinical laboratories in hospitals and private laboratories, or other private and public institutions: bio-toxicological sections of Regional Agencies for Environmental Protection and Waste Management organizations.
Research biologist: access to public and private research centers, regional and national natural parks, pharmaceutical industry, including human field, zoo-technics, food and cosmetology industries.
Graduates may follow advanced courses, may acquire post-graduate specializations both in Italy and abroad or may apply to different PhD programmes
