Recommended Prerequisites: General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry
Written tests during the course and response to questionnaires consisting of closed or open questions.
Learning outcomes: to deepen and consolidate learning of environmental chemistry. Locate and understand sources, nature, transport mechanisms, and reactions of chemical pollutant agents. Purpose: at the end of the course the student should know the various forms of treatment and rehabilitation for pollution and acquire skills for targeted interventions in specific cases of pollution.
Air Pollution The atmosphere and atmospheric chemistry Water Pollution Main contaminants, water quality in relation to their use, methods of removal of contaminants, reuse of wastewater. Soil Pollution Soil as a center of environmental balances. Soil contamination. The main inorganic and organic contaminants. Heavy metal contamination. The factors that affect mobility and bioavailability of metals in soil. Methods of rehabilitation and remediation of contaminated sites.
