The following topics are dealt within the teaching course: Fundamentals of Hygiene in the extensive and intensive farming systems, as far as animal species and production attitudes; Good Farming Practices and related European Regulations; Common causes of technopathies in the farmed animals and prevention (in growing, reproducing and producing animals). The concept of Animal Welfare and indicators in the light of on farm assessment, as far as European bylaws. Prevention strategies and response mechanism between host-agents:
- Stress response;
- Prevention of the acid-base imbalances, of termoregulation and trophism disorders
- Prevention of the diffusion of infestations, infectious and zoonotic diseases.
