Knowledge of material culture attestations connected to the preliminary diffusion of Christianism and, more in general, contextualised in Late Antiquity; ability to analyse differentiated research sources in order to arrive to a historical reconstruction with specific focus on Late Antiquity.

General outlines of italian medieval archeology, with particular reference to the history of rural settlements, cities, cemeteries and artifacts

Brief introduction to the disciplinary sector; research sources; funerary rites and places; Martyr sanctuaries; catacombs; ritual buildings: rural areas convertion to Christianity.

Medieval archeology in Europe and in Italy. Issues and problems of medieval archeology in Sardinia.
Students will participate in excavations of medieval sites directed by professor Milanese, to exploration and territorial laboratories and study finds.

Students will participate in workshops on medieval finds, in activities of Biddas-Museum of Deserted Villages of Sardinia (Sorso, Baron's Palace) and in excavations of Mesumundu (Siligo), Bisarcio (Ozieri), of the palace of the Judicial Ardara, Chiaramonti (monastery and the village of Orria Pithinna and any missions abroad.
