Students' oral and written skills should be at the A2 level of the CEFR
The exam consists of a written test that will assess students’ written skills and their vocabulary and grammatical knowledge at the B1 level of the CEFR by means of fill-in-the-gaps, multiple-choice, open-answer, and reading comprehension exercises. A reading comprehension activity will assess students’ knowledge of the topics dealt with in the linguistics module.
This 6-credit course is divided into two parts: 1. a linguistics module (10 hours of face-to-face lectures) – 2 credits, 2. a language module (50 hours of face-to-face language lessons) – 4 credits. Information concerning the linguistics module is given in the appropriate section. In the language module, lessons aim at developing students’ basic communicative skills in English at the pre-intermediate level with a focus on the written skills, grammar, and vocabulary at the A2 level of the CEFR.
Linguistics: In the linguistics module the Reading Comprehension skills will be deepened through targeted readings on the theme of human rights, taken from the book "Speaking of Human Rights".
Language lessons: The language module aims at developing students' basic communicative skills at the pre-intermediate level (A2/B1 of CEFR) with a focus on the written skills, grammar, and vocabulary as specified in the textbook for this module (see the bibliographic reference).

Even though the subject is divided into modules (linguistics and language), one final mark will be assigned. Linguistics and Language can be registered singly only in the case of the necessity to complete a quote of credits following transfer from another course, an Erasmus exchange or parts of the exam that have been previously registered and have not expired.
