Final exam
The course pursues the objective to introduce the students to the Western medical tradition and the new conception of the body and of therapeutic practices , following the historical perspective needed to understand contemporary medicine. But the course also aims the discussion on biomedical and bioethical issues
The course is divided into chronological-thematic and follows the rise of scientific medicine, including such topics as the origins and rise of hospital medicine and the advances of Public Health. Part of the course is devoted to the discussion on the Hippocratic Oath and on the Ethic and Bioethics and the issues relating to the beginning and the end of human life, ( in-vitro fertilisation and abortion to euthanasia and palliative care)
