Objectives

At the end of the course the student knows the main risk factors, pathophysiology, clinical features, diagnosis and treatment of gynecological and obstetric diseases. The student must understand the physiology of childbirth and postpartum.

GYNECOLOGY

-Anatomy of the female genital tract
- Physiology of the female and male reproductive function
-The menstrual cycle
-Fertilization
-The menstrual changes
-The menopause
-Contraception
-The female and male sterility
-The inflammation of the female genital tract
-Endometriosis
-Pelvic organ prolapse
-The gynecological cancer: diagnosis

Obstetrics

-Development of the embryo and fetal membranes
-Physiology of pregnancy
-Diagnosis of pregnancy and pregnancy hygiene
-Physiology of delivery
- Clinical evolution of normal birth
-Semeiology of fetus and placenta: prenatal diagnosis
-Evaluation of fetal wellbeing: biochemical and biophysical monitoring
- The puerperium and lactation
