ENVIRONMENTAL HYGIENE
The assessment elements of the course are the design developed during the course and the outcome of oral or written examination (during or at the end of course) to assess the knowledge of the theoretical content
1. The course deals with the design of the landscape-environment in accordance with a set of design requirements oriented in an environmental sense and with a design conception as a collective design developped trough different knowledges and subjects. The course proposes a design method that is coherent with the physical context in which it must be inserted and with the expectations of local societies. A conscious and careful design to environmental hazards. A design idea conscious relating to different aspects and problems with the support of relevant international theories, approaches, methods and tools for the mobilization of knowledge, for the design and environmental planning at any scale.
2. The course provides up-to-date scientific knowledge about risk factors and the current state of the environmental media in relation to the phenomenon of human activity and what are the effects and consequences on the health of the population.
5 key concepts - the design requirements – lead the course and the design to be developed in the laboratory. For each key concept there are specific theoretical content, examples and case studies: 1. contextualization 2. processuality, 3. integration between urban and environmental processes, 4. quality differential 5. involvement collective management and empowerment.
The contents are not introduced in the following order but in relation to 5 concepts.
The topics are
Evolution of environmental planning and landscape
Comparison between technical knowledge and common knowledge
The transition from object-oriented approaches to process-oriented approaches
Biodiversity and ecological networks
Hybrid approaches and liminality
Ethics landscape project
Transformation and collective management
Landscape as a collective good.
They will also be developed on the following topics related to the context under study:
Meaning and content of Environmental Hygiene.
Environmental epidemiology.
Environment and health.
Atmospheric air.
Indoor air pollution.
Water intended for human consumption.
Water Treatment Units.
Wastewater and sewage systems.
Waste.
Data and cartographic material for the project will be available during the course, as well as handouts and materials related to the content of the lectures.

The slides and other materials used for lectures is made available to the students on the online ABCD platform.
The course is conducted entirely face to face and is divided into lectures and laboratory design.
The course includes lectures in support of the laboratory, laboratory design, guided visits to project sites. The laboratory is dedicated to the realization of a transformation and rehabilitation design of an area of Sardinia, which satisfy the requirements at the base of the course. The visits in the site design will allow to know the places, meet experts and locals inhabitants. The design, if possible, will be presented and discussed with experts and residents.
