PROCESSES AND INSTITUTIONS OF THE WORLD POLITICS
Oral and written (intermediate proof, participation in the seminar and short final dissertation)
Students must master the basic concepts concerning the concept of strategy and some of its theoretical declinations. Moreover, they must investigate the challenges put to the suse of military force in the last decades.
More precisely, students must be able to write a short paper on a conceptual or policy issue about the subject of the course.
Every year the course deals with a relevant subject in world politics. This year the subject is "Strategy and the use of force in contemporary world politics”.
Definitions of strategy. Classical theories of strategy: East and West, Sunzi and Clausewitz. Paradoxes of 'nuclear strategies". Wars in the contemporary international system and the use of force. Strategies of and aginst terrorism. Web strategies?
