Linguistics: Some theoretical approaches and methodologies to study dialect classification are considered. Also, the course revises the debates on the origins and historical development of catalan dialects in Roussillon, Catalonia, Valencia, Balearic Islands and the city of Alghero as well as the most recent developments in the fields of Dialectology

Language lessons: The course proposes a theoretical and practical approach that guarantees the ability to communicate in everyday contexts, to read, understand and summarize short texts. The tools provided will aim at developing adaptive skills for the various communicative, oral and written situations, as well as familiarizing the student with different aspects of the culture and history of Catalan-speaking countries
