ISPANIC-AMERICAN LITERATURES
Oral exam
The course aims to guide students to the knowledge of the Spanish-American narrative from its origins to the present, with particular reference to the Nineteenth and Twentieth century. It also aims to enable students to make a critical reflection on the topics covered in the course and dominate the analytical tools and concepts required for textual analysis.
The course is divided into two modules. In the first one it is intended to illustrate the most relevant genres and authors in the history of Spanish American narrative. The module will address the issues that characterize the literary and cultural landscape of the continent, including the fundamental question of identity and the complex relationship with modernity. The second module is devoted to literary text analysis.
The textual analysis of the novels will allow to investigate further the topics coverd in the first module, in particular that of modernity and its failure in Latin America.
