Objectives

Part 1:
Learning of the methodological process of archaeological research, with particular reference to the anthropological interpretation, the stratigraphic excavation and study of the finds.

Part 2:
The course aims to introduce the students to the knowledge of the main methods for planning and carry out an archaeological research on the territory. It is directed to the reconstruction of the landscapes according to a diachronic perspective.

Contents

Part 1:
The process of archaeological research; sources and archaeological history; methods: what questions, what answers; Ways of formation of the archaeological evidence; stratigraphic methodologies;
Stratigraphic Unit in the matrix of Harris (from the history relative to the absolute) from the excavation to the history, the finds as indicators, methodologies typological;. science in archeology, interpretation, development, communication, archeology, architecture, elements of the stratigraphy of the high; Urban Archaeology; Preventive Archaeology in Europe and in Italy

Part 2:
This part of the course will concern essentially the methodological aspects connected to the archaeological research in the territory and the study of the different available sources in order to reconstruct the landscapes in the long time. Some illustrative cases of study will be presented.

Part 1:
Tutorials, workshops, excavations. Students will participate in workshops finds, activities Biddas-Museum of Abandoned Villages of Sardinia (Sorso, Baron's Palace) and the ruins of the deserted village of Bisarcio (Ozieri), the palace of the Judicial Ardara and any missions abroad.
Summer School on Medieval Archaeology.

Part 2:
Seminars; laboratory activities on the archeometric and archaeological study of ceramic.
