Assessment methods and criteria: Oral exam and pratical proget
[ENGLISH] Learning outcomes of the course unit: The course is aimed at providing students with a good command of the cartographic instruments and tools useful for handling tourist geographic information. In particular the course will be based on practical exercise and fieldwork, after an introduction and provision of a theoretical background, using opensource GIS, webmapping and GPS-fitted handheld devices.
[ENGLISH] Course contents: The course is aimed at providing students with an introductory overview on the basic functions of GIS and webmapping tools for the acquisition and use of georeferenced information for managing environment and space. The plan of the teaching activities is organized in two parts. A first part is aimed at providing a theoretical framework that will allow students to read and understand a topographic and thematic map, followed by a more operational part in which students will be directly involved in exercise and activities for building their own maps and itineraries based on the tourist phenomenon. Students in particular will have the opportunity of carry on practical activities working with GIS packages and on-line webmapping tools for acquiring, elaboration and representing geographical data. They will also be involved in practical exercise with they own portable devices (smartphones and tablets) under the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) logic as instruments for acquisition and elaboration of geographical data with a touristic content.
