Oral exam
Knowledge and understanding of the features of International Law and of its main areas. Ability to apply such knowledge to the understanding and assessment of the legal aspects of issues and intersubjective relationships, both on the domestic and international plane.
Origins and nature of International law. The subjects: States and other entities. The individual in International Law. The sources. Custom. Peremptory Rules (jus cogens). Codification agreements. International Treaties. The Law of Treaties in the light of the Vienna Convention. Sources envisaged by agreements. International Organizations. Relationship between domestic law and international law. Adaptation of the domestic legal system to customary law and to treaties. Jurisdictional immunities of States and of their organs. Responsibility of States for Internationally Wrongful Acts. The settlement of international disputes. The international protection of the environment.

Attending students will be provided with the main materials considered during the course. As a collection of basic texts of International Law, the following is recommended:

Face to face lectures. Introduction to the Course contents, also by examining international practice and case-law.
Readiness to offer individual assistance to incoming students also in english language. Readiness to accept examination of incoming students also in english/french language.
