The students will be assessed with an exam for each module.

OBSTETRICS
One written exam during the teaching semester (in itinere) and another written exam at the end of lectures and practicals. Each examination consists of a multiple choice questionnaire and essay questions. If a student fail the in itinere examination, he/she will be examined on the entire program at the end of the course.

the student should be able to:
- demonstrate a good understanding and knowledge of hormonal regulation of reproduction and estrous cycles in different species
- understand and know the physiology of gestation
- be familiar with the mechanism that control parturition
apply knowledge to solve practical problems concerning reproduction in farm and companion animals.

REPRODUCTIVE PATHOLOGY AND ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION
Spoken and practical (knowledge of instruments required for artificial insemination) examination at the end of the course

The student will need to demonstrate :
- knowledge of the basis of pathology of female reproduction in different species
- knowledge of the causes of fertility and sterility in female mammals
- ability to test males and the fertility of they sperm
- knowledge of the techniques of semen collection and storage and artificial insemination techniques in different species.

Objectives

At the end of the Course of OBSTETRICS the student should be able to:
- demonstrate a good understanding and knowledge of hormonal regulation of reproduction and estrous cycles in different species
- understand and know the physiology of gestation
- be familiar with the mechanism that control parturition
- apply knowledge to solve practical problems concerning reproduction in farm and companion animals

At the end of the course of REPRODUCTIVE PATHOLOGY AND ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION the student should prove that he/she has:
Knowledge of pregnancy, partum and puerperium disease
Knowledge of main genital diseases in domestic females.
Cause of female infertility or sterility
Knowledge of semen collection, evaluation and storage
Artificial insemination technique in domestic animals.

Teaching Methods

The course of Obstetric Clinic 1 (7 european credit transfer system, ECTS) consists of two modules: 1) Obstetrics (3 ECTS) and 2) Reproductive Pathology and Artificial Insemination (4 ECTS).

The course consists of lectures (Obstetrics 25h; Pathology of Reproduction and Artificial Insemination: 34h) and practicals (Obstetrics 11h; Pathology of Reproduction and Artificial Insemination: 14h).

Practicals are conducted in groups of 8-10 students to maximize their learning goals.
