Orienteering, use of topographic maps. Interpretation of rocks at the hand specimen- and outcrop-scale. Interpretation of the main deformational structures (folds, faults). Drawing and interpretation of geological maps and geological sections.
The class of Geological mapping consists of three main sections. The first one will show the cartographic features of the main rock types (magmatic, metamorphic and sedimentary). The second part includes both lectures and lab training. Lab will focus on the interpretation of geological maps. The third and last section of the class is fully devoted to the making and interpretation of geological sections
