PHARMACEUTICAL TECHNOLOGY 1
Final oral examination.
The Courses of Technology, Socioeconomic and Pharmaceutical Legislation, and Pharmaceutical Technology 1 aim to provide the theoretical and practical foundations of Pharmaceutical Technology regarding the design, preparation, and control of solid, semisolid, and liquid pharmaceutical dosage forms. These aspects represent a common path for the students of the two courses.
The Pharmaceutical Technology 1 course completes the preparation on the subject of the characterization of materials and/or pharmaceutical dosage forms.
The Technology, Socioeconomic, and Pharmaceutical Legislation course provides, in addition to the basics of pharmaceutical technology, also knowledge on the legislative aspects concerning professional practice in Pharmacy. The rules relating to the production and marketing of medicinal products for human use by industry will be considered.
Themes of the theoretical lessons (common path TECHNOLOGY 1 and TECHNOLOGY, SOCIOECONOMICS AND PHARMACEUTICAL LEGISLATION: - General and Contents of the XII and European Official Pharmacopoeia - Pharmaceutical Operations - Solid, semisolid and liquid Conventional Pharmaceutical Forms, - Ophthalmic, auricular and nasal dosage forms.-
The part relating to Socioeconomics and Pharmaceutical Legislation of the Course in TECHNOLOGY, SOCIOECONOMICS AND PHARMACEUTICAL LEGISLATION is based on the Italian and supranational health organization and the National Health Service. -Structures and regulation of the dispensing of medicines. Procedures for the authorization of the production and marketing of medicinal products.
Laboratory Practice (TECHNOLOGY, SOCIOECONOMICS AND PHARMACEUTICAL LEGISLATION): During the laboratory practice, each student will carry out the preparation, quality control and packaging of galenic, masterful and officinal preparations (papers, capsules, tablets, hydroalcoholic and glyceric solutions, syrups, emulsions and suspensions, suppositories, semi-solid preparations for skin application.
Laboratory Practice (TECHNOLOGY 1): During the laboratory practice, each student will perform tests on raw materials or finished powder compositions, the most common general pharmaceutical operations and some powder characterization tests. All tests will be accompanied by the processing and analysis of the results.

During the lectures, PowerPoint presentations will be used. In the lab.,
each student will have a suitable workstation for galenic preparations.
Suitable equipment will be also available for the control of the dosage
forms prepared. All the all paper material to support the laboratory
practice will be available in the web page of the teacher. In case it is
necessary to proceed with distance learning, the TEAMS platform will be
used for both synchronous and asynchronous teaching
