This teaching aimed to provide:
knowledge on the economic aspects related to wild edible mushrooms and truffles.
knowledge on taxonomy, biology and ecology of edible mushrooms and truffle species present in Sardinia.
the skills for the identification, through microscopic and macroscopic characters, of the main wild edible mushrooms and truffles present in Sardinia.
the basic knowledge on truffle cultivation and mycosilviculture.
knowledge on the laws and regulations that govern the marketing of wild edible mushrooms and truffles.
knowledge on issues related to the production of mushroom- and truffle-based foodstuffs.
This teaching provide important expertise and skills for a degree course of Forest Sciences since it is the unique teaching which deals with edible mushrooms as a significant resource of non-wood forest products for the development of a sustainable forestry.
