SOCIOLOGY OF THE INTERCULTURAL PROCESSES
Oral examination.
At the end of the course students will have acquired:
- The main conceptual tools for the understanding and study of the current phenomena of human mobility.
- A general overview of international migrations, their main interpretative models, and some related issues.
- The sensitivity and critical thinking skills required to those who work in culturally plural contexts and in social services.
The program will cover the following issues:
The social construction of migrant. Types of migrant and migrations. The feminization of migration. Second generation migrants. Theories on the causes of international migrations. Different aspects of the migration phenomenon in Italy. The news processes of transnationalism. The forced migrations. Connections between migration and development of countries

Frontal classes.
During the lectures will be held some meetings with scholars, local policy makers, organizations operating in the field of migration and interculture.
- During the lectures the teacher can request to the students attending lectures a written paper on a topic assigned, to be treated on the basis of the texts and other materials used in class and to discuss during the examination.
- The teacher is available to offer teaching materials and bibliographical references also in a foreign language (mainly French and English) to incoming students.
