The course aims to investigate the main economic changes that affected societies in Europe and the USA since the 20th century, by focusing on the relationship between economic processes, territory and society.
• Knowledge and understanding:
Students will acquire basic notions of the subject and specific expertise in interpreting social phenomena from an economic perspective, by paying attention to context-related factors.
• Applying knowledge and understanding:
Students will be able to understand the main relationship between economy, territory and society. In particular, the student will be able to interpret economic problems and take a position on contemporary social issues.
• Making judgements:
All sociological pieces of knowledge will be constructed in order to provide students with the ability of making their own judgments regarding social issues that emerge from socio-economic contexts.
• Communication skills:
Communicative skills will be improved both by making students able to make use of a specialized lexicon and through a constant interaction with the teacher and colleagues during classes.
• Learning skills:
Students will gain a greater awareness of social phenomena from an economic standpoint and with reference to the territorial framework of reference and will be able to master the most suitable tools for autonomous research and acquisition of new knowledge.
