Frontal lesson (15 hours)
GENERAL ZOOLOGY - Evolutionary apporach. Prokaryotes (Monera) and eukaryotic (Protists, Fungi, Plants and Animals). Autotrophic and heterotrophic organisms. What is an animal. Elements of reproduction in animals.
FUNDAMENTALS OF TAXONOMY: concept of species and speciation, wildlife and native species, animal biodiversity, main categories systematic zoological nomenclature.
INVERTEBRATE ZOOLOGY: basics on arthropods (crustaceans, insects and arachnids) of veterinary interest.
VERTEBRATE ZOOLOGY: Classification of chordates, principal morphological and veterinary interest: cartilaginous and fin fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals.
Laboratory (9 hours)
Recognition of museum exhibits and wild animals.
To guarantee quality, practical exercises are provided in groups of up to 10 students.
