The student will acquire basic skills in surgical pathology, surgical semeiotics and veterinary radiology. The general principles of the pathologies of the various systems will be taken into consideration (definitions, synonyms, surgical anatomy, etiopathogenesis, physiopathological considerations of clinical importance, symptoms) aimed at the treatment of cases as well as the main specific pathologies of significant interest in surgery of small and large animals. . The student will learn the basics for the realization, interpretation and reporting of the main diagnostic imaging methods.
The course aims to stimulate students to acquire study autonomy, favoring the use of assimilated knowledge, preparatory to the application of the clinical examination and fundamental surgical techniques, for the development of a correct diagnostic and therapeutic process in the evaluation of different cases. clinical (d1c 1.17); to manage animal patients in a safe and animal-friendly way (d1c 1.16); to develop the ability to apply this knowledge and solve problems relating to new or unfamiliar issues; to communicate clearly and unambiguously to specialist and non-specialist interlocutors (d1c 1.4, d1c 1.5, d1c 1.22); understand the ethical and professional responsibilities of the veterinarian in relation to the animals in his care, the environment, customers, policies and society (d1c 1.1).
