The course wants to offer to the students the instruments to understand and analise the phisical environment and its dinamics, relating to the world landscapes and to the human development. Geography has become more relevant to human affairs, more concerned with natural hazards and it's fundamental to understand human impact on environmental change. Students at the end of the course should be able to recognize the phisical components of the landscape and their dynamicity, including man as actor of changes and as vulnerable subject too.
Landscape concept evolution, interaction between the different components of the landscape, different approaches to the knowledge of the landscape, the landscape as a component of the cultural heritage, the symbolic significance of the landscape. Relationships between the physical landscape and the cultural heritage. The main lithological domains of Sardinia, the granitic landscape, the karst landscape. Paleoclimatic evidences in the geological studies. Examining the landscapes from images, students suggestions. Interpretation of the topographic maps.
Texts and other bibliographic material will be communicated during the course. Students are asked to contact the teacher before the final examination.
Face to face lessons, practical exercises, didactical videos, experts seminars (when possible), reading and interpretation of topographic and thematic maps, general discussions during the course.
