The course focuses mainly about Plato's Meno, so it concerns the Platonic theory of knowledge and its relationship with virtue. First, I will briefly introduce Plato's philosophy; second, I will read and comment the Meno: by reading it, I will explain and introduce other ancient theories of knowledge, in order to put in context. We will also read and comment some relevant passages of Plato's Thaeteetus and Republic. I will finally make some remarks on Plato’s epistemology, then I will consider it according to its relations to the ancient debate as well as to the contemporary epistemology.
