HISTORY OF TRADE AND NAVIGATION IN THE MIDDLE AGES
Interim and final oral examinations. Oral examination. During the interview, the critical and methodological skills developed by the student on the topics dealt with during the course will be verified. The student's ability to relate sources and bibliography, his ability to synthesize, his critical and expository mastery of themes and concepts and the appropriateness of specific language will be considered excellent. The knowledge of mnemonic nature of the matter, the exposure articulated with a correct expressive language, but not always appropriate, will lead to a fair judgment. Training gaps in preparation, minimal knowledge and not always appropriate language will lead to a sufficient assessment; inappropriate language and an inability to orient oneself in the course topics and in the indicated bibliography will lead to a negative judgment.
For students attending MODULE 2 who have participated individually or in working groups in the activities seminars with discussions and exhibitions in the classroom on specific topics, the grade will be calculated taking into account the papers and/or presentations.
The course aims to provide critical tools for the knowledge of the evolution of navigation and trade history in the Middle Ages, with particular reference to the analysis of the trade and nautical revolution, the production and movement of goods, the organization of markets and trade tools.
At the end of the course the student will have acquired critical skills on the different documentary and material testimonies on which the historical reconstruction is based, will be able to apply the acquired contents and set up an autonomous research. It will also be able to communicate with the specific language in heterogeneous contexts the contents learned.
