MEDIEVAL AND HUMANISTIC LATIN LITERATURE
Oral exam.
General knowledge of the medieval and humanistic Latin literature. Reading of an exemplary text of this literature in Italian translation. At the end of the course the student will have acquired a basic knowledge of literary history and will be able to orientate himself in reading a text in Italian translation.
The course will be divided into two modules:
Basic module: The history of the medieval Latin literature from the VI to XV century
Monographic module: An exemplary text of the medieval and humanistic Latin literature
Handbook: Paolo Chiesa, La letteratura latina del medioevo. Un profilo storico, Roma, Carocci 2017 (Studi superiori / 1090. Civiltà classiche).
Lecture Notes: Antologia di testi per il corso di Letteratura latina medievale, a cura di Rossana E. Guglielmetti (The Lecture Notes will be provided in class).
The Latin text in Italian translation will be provided in class.
