ENGLISH LANGUAGE
A written test, divided into two parts (which will take place on the same day):
1) verification of the achievement of level B1 through grammatical, syntactic and lexical exercises. A written composition. Moreover, there will be a verification of the comprehension of the oral language by listening to one or more dialogues and/or monologues and the answer to a questionnaire.
2) reading two texts written in English and answering questions in order to examine the students’ comprehension of the text. The first session to take the exam is the 2019 summer session.
Achievement of the B1 Pre-Intermediate level of the CEFR in English. Reading and understanding of different types of texts written in English (literary, historical or related to British civilization)
The course is divided into two parts:
1) The tutorials, carried out by the native speaker Aaron Jay Sipf, focused on the learning of the morpho-syntactic structures and the lexicon of the English language (level from A2 up to the achievement of B1) and the practice of audio-oral skills.
2) The lectures of the teacher, Caterina Tola, which will take place in the second semester consist in reading and understanding of different types of texts written in English (literary, historical or related to British civilization). The assessment of the comprehension of written texts will take place through the performance of activities such as multiple choice questions, true / false exercises, answers to specific questions in English. In addition there will be the grammatical analysis in order to improve written production.
For tutorials with reader Aaron Jay Sipf: Clare, A. and Wilson, J.J. "Speak Out. Pre-Intermediate". Students' book with DVD-rom and MyEnglishLab. Pearson Longman. (Last edition / 2ND edition.) It is highly recommended to make extensive use of the MyEnglishLab interactive workbook essential for passing the exam.
