The student at the end of the course, using the knowledge of microbiology, physiology, general pathology, hygiene must demonstrate knowledge and understanding about:
Promotion of oral health. Epidemiology and prevention of the main diseases of dental interest: dental caries, periodontal disease, malocclusions, dental trauma, oral cavity tumors, early childhood caries, dental pathologies of the elderly population, oral health in the disabled, with particular attention to the prevention of dental gold and to therapy.
Furthermore, by applying the acquired knowledge and understanding, the student must be able, even in collaboration with other professionals, to:
Evaluate the risk of caries
Provide home oral hygiene instructions
Detecting dento-periodontal community indices
Work in team on oral prevention project (bibliographic information gathering exercises and Evidence-Based preventive strategies for WHO priority action areas on Oral Health).
