Objectives

Acquisition of adequate knowledge of the classes of drugs directly and indirectly related with the dental practice. In particular, students will learn the molecular mechanisms of action, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic characteristics, therapeutic uses and appropriateness of use of each class of drugs. Also known adverse reactions that may occur during drug therapy dental, drug-related in use, genetic features, pathophysiologic the patient, and the possible interactions with other medications the patient is taking for diseases other than dental.

Contents

Introduction to Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics (absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination) Pharmacodynamics (mechanism of action of drugs and receptors) Principles of Therapy and Toxicology. Drugs acting on the ASN (active cholinergic and adrenergic system), CNS (General anesthetics, local, sedatives, hypnotics, Drugs for Parkinson's disease, opioid analgesics, etc. ..) NSAIDs, corticosteroids, anticoagulants , Antiasthmatics, gastroprotective, Drugs acting on the cardiovascular system, Antiseptics and Disinfectants, Antibacterial, Antifungal and Antineoplastic, Hormones and their antagonists.
