BIOLOGY
The achievement of the expected learning outcomes is assessed by checking self-assessment activities at the end of each module of the course and through the exam.
Self-assessment tests allow the student to monitor their understanding of the topics given and, if there are any difficulties, to take action to fill gaps or ask for further explanations.
The assessment of the level of knowledge gained will take place through an oral interview aimed at verifying the knowledge and understanding of the topics and the ability of the student to properly orientate within the topics covered in this lesson using an appropriate scientific language.
The course aims at giving the student basic information on the fundamental characteristics of living organisms. In particular, the student will have to acquire knowledges about the structure, function and turnover of biomolecules and the flow of information, from genome to proteoma. In addition, the student will learn about cell structure (procariotic and eukaryotic), cellular compartmentalization and cell division and communication processes.
The aim of this module is to convey the knowledge of biology from the molecular to the complexity of the more complex biological systems. The course is aimed at the knowledge of the biological bases needed to understand the structure and function of the human body under normal conditions for the maintenance of health and the correct application of translational scientific research;
In particular, the course will be based on an experimental approach to develop in the learners the scientific rigor and the formulation of hypotheses, skills that will make the student open in later clinical trials to solve problems and acquire good clinical abilities.
