Verification of learning:

The evaluation consists of establishing the acquired knowledge on the basis of the defined educational objectives.
The examination is an oral colloquim concerning the topics terated during the lessons and the results of laboratory activities.

Objectives

Purpose of the course is to investigate some basic aspects and recent research results concerning design and application of sensors and biosensors in the different fields of Analytical Chemistry. At the end of the course the student will know the working principles and the answer mechanisms of optical and electrochemical sensors, in particular Conducting Polymers-based.

Contents

Semiconductor structures as chemical sensors. Mass-sensitive, conductivity, calorimetric, electrochemical and optical sensors. Potentiometric and amperometric sensors. Selectivity and applications of potentiometric and amperometric sensors. Electrochemical biosensors: design and applications.

The didactical includes face to face lessons, as well as pratical laboratory activities concerning the topics presented during the face to face lessons.
