Assessment Methods

Verification of learning:

TEHORY: Theoretical learning level will be checked through the continuous interaction between teachers, guests and students, and classroom tests in progress
PRACTICE: The teaching absorbed will be verified by the outputs from practical classroom exercises
FIELD TRIP: Will check the degree of landscape sharing between students and stakeholders
CASE STUDY: Group capability to resume the material previously elaborated in the case study into the final project will be evaluated

Objectives

The course aims to provide foundations for the study and evaluation of landscape, with its interactions between natural and cultural processes
Students will develop practical skills and will learn how to read, describe, classify and map landscapes with their different forms and types
The acquired knowledge on landscape analysis will form a basis for further courses on cultural tourism and socio-territorial studies

Contents

The course is structured in 4 parts:
THEORY: Concepts and methods in landscape analysis and cultural landscape evaluation, and correlation with cultural tourism
PRACTICE: Landscape types, classification and mapping for landscape and tourist heritage
FIELD TRIP: In a common landscape at the beginning of the course and in the case study later
CASE STUDY: Development in team of a project focussing on a specific cultural landscape

The course is based on interactive lectures, supervised exercises, a project on cultural landscape interrelated to cultural tourism
Practicals will facilitate the development of the case study
Landscape projects at different scales will be illustrated by international and local guests
Latest methods carried out by scholars will be employed in team-working

Attendance: Strictly recommended; students not able to attend are requested to contact the lecturer to discuss exam programme and method
