This 12-credit course is divided into two 6-credit modules as specified below:
a. a linguistics module (30 hours of face-to-face lectures in the second term),
b. a language module (75 hours of face-to-face language lessons in both the first and second term)
Linguistics module: students will deal with the most important aspects of human communication examined on the basis of the basic concepts of pragmatics applied to the English language.
Language module: According to CEFR, students at the B2 level “can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.”
