DISEASES OF THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
1) Be able to use the knowledge acquired in the previous years of the medical Course for the correct and easy approach to the respiratory patient.
2) To achieve a good ability in collecting the patient''s medical history, performing the chest physical examination, setting the diagnostic approach to the respiratory diseases and discussing the main differential diagnoses related to them.
3) Knowledge of the main risk factors, etiopathogenesis, physiopathology, clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of Respiratory Diseases.
THORACIC SURGERY
The student should be able to recognize the clinical, laboratory and hysto-pathological features of the most frequent thoracic surgical diseases.
He/She should be able to make the correct diagnosis and suggest the most appropriate surgical treatment.
In particular, at the end of the course, the student must be able to:
Know the correct use of invasive and non-invasive diagnostic techniques necessary to establish a correct diagnosis and evaluation of the patient that allows to decide the most appropriate surgical treatment.
Know the main types of surgery procedures in the diseases described above and the problems related to specific surgical treatments.
VASCULAR SURGERY
The Academic Course of Vascular Surgery at the 4th year of the School of Medicine aims at teaching the students how to diagnose the most common vascular emergencies: acute limbs ischemia, ruptured aortic, visceral and peripheral aneurysms, and transient ischemic attacks.
Furthermore, diagnosis and screening of peripheral arterial disease, mesenteric ischemia, and carotid disease.
