The course will be entirely developed online; it will be the teacher's responsibility to record the video
lectures concerning both theoretical aspects and practical exercises, subsequently uploaded on the
platform indicated by the University (Moodle and/or Microsoft Teams). Compared to a time
distribution, a maximum of 40% of this is expected to be used for the examination of the theoretical
aspects, 50% for the practical part mainly related to the GIS and instrumental part and the remaining
10% to be used for guided exercises on particular research topics (ecological, infrastructural,
landscape, sociological, demographic, etc.). The teacher-student interaction will always take place
through digital channels, in which students can expose their difficulties or doubts on the course
topics and it will always be the responsibility of the teacher to prepare a weekly video tutorial to
clarify doubts and problems, provided to students in the same online mode. The course does not
include a specific reference text, in fact all teaching materials and in particular the geographical bases
used during the exercises will be provided by the teacher and in any case available online
independently by the student because they can be acquired free of charge by the various official
GeoServers (National Geoportal, Regional Territorial Information Systems, ISPRA, SiraNet, ISTAT
Geodata, INGV, etc.) that will be used during the course. The course has a strong inclination to
practical professional aspects, in fact for all the exercises concerning the different applications of
geographical research will follow the consolidated procedure for the definition of the research
objectives, identification of the most suitable databases from which to take the necessary
information, definition of the methodology and choice of tools, analysis of the significance of the
results and the most effective methods of representation.
