The student will acquire specific basic knowledge about the fundamental elements of ecology and landscape ecology, firstly on the landscape as an ecological system and on the central role of the plant and vegetation, including the delicate balances that govern the natural systems (knowledge and understanding). It will be able to analyze and evaluate examples of ecosystem functioning and the effect of anthropogenic disturbances and their relevance from the applicative point of view, identifying the causes and consequences of spatial heterogeneity of the landscape, analyzing the processes in a multi-scale and multi-temporal context. (making judgments). The analytical skills and the critical spirit will be developed through specific case studies, retracing and re-elaborating concrete experiences (applying knowledge and understanding). It will develop the ability to communicate and cooperate, also carrying out activities in working groups (communication skills).
