The exam consists of a written examination that take place in the computer lab and cover theory and practice. It will take about 1 hour. The first part consists of multiple-choice questions, with a penalty applied for wrong answers; the questions will cover the whole course’s program. For the second part students will be provided with a dataset to perform some analyzes that will be commented, thus demonstrating an adequate understanding of the exercise performed and not just the technical ability to use a software for an analysis.
To obtain the minimal score, the student must prove adequate understanding of the general principles of information extraction from data and of economic statistics and her ability to use in practice at least some of the statistical methodologies and data mining techniques.
Obtaining the maximum score will require full understanding of principles and mastery of all analytical instruments introduced during the course.
Distance exam modality - COVID-19 period: oral.
The student’s visualization is made using Microsoft Teams. The student should analyze the results of an exercise carried out by the teacher with the STATA program by sharing an OUTPUT file of the program. The student should speak for at least 5’. Subsequently, the student will be asked 3 questions in order to verify the knowledge of the theoretical topics covered in the program. The time available is around 25/30 minutes.
