The course is aimed at providing students with a good command of the cartographic instruments and tools useful for handling tourist geographic information. In particular the course will be based on practical exercise and fieldwork, after an introduction and provision of a theoretical background, using opensource GIS, webmapping and GPS-fitted handheld devices.
I. Knowledge and understanding: the main purpose of the course is the graded learning of the GIS (Geographic Information System)
II. Applied knowledge and understanding: being able to acquire, process and represent geographic data.
III. Making judgements: being able to express an independent and critical judgement on Gis applications.
IV. Communication skills: being able to communicate effectively using geographic language.
V. Learning skills: the ability to learn will be verified through the direct involvement of students.
