Lectures (The topics are distributed in blocks of about 1 CFU each):
1 credit:
Analysis of the phenomenon of fires in the rural area
This credit will provide the basic indications to understand the physiognomy of the phenomenon, which is prevalently anthropogenic, with particular emphasis on predisposing and determining factors.
Particular attention will be paid to illustrating the relationships between physical factors (wind, slope, environmental factors, types of fuel and their accumulation) and dynamics of the outbreak, with an illustration of simple techniques of prediction of the behavior of easy use. Meteorology Fires. The tools available (cards, radiosondaggi etc.). The characteristics and classification of the fuel
2 credit
The new generation AIB planning
In this credit we will analyze the phases of integrated forest fire fighting in particular: forecast (risk and danger analysis), direct and indirect prevention and active and passive fight.
As part of the techniques of struggle, the following topics will be examined: analysis of smoke columns and air stability, recognition of the predisposing factor that most extends fire; L.A.C.E.S protocol; the language of the Campbell prediction system)
3 credit
Insights on fire behavior forecasting methods: application
In this credit we will deepen the recent fire behavior prediction techniques through the use of different simulation programs used for the analysis of fire behavior parameters (Visual Behave, Behave Plus).
In particular, in this loan the use of these instruments will be analyzed mainly in the field of behavior forecasting as a preventive management tool that uses fire to reduce dangerous accumulations of fuels before environmental conditions become critical.
4 credit
The contact points between forest planning and AIB planning.
Post fire treatment as a preventive management tool. Preventive forestry techniques. Practical cases of preventive forestry (integrated techniques: fire, thinning-pocketing). Interface and planning fires. The new organizational models; the concept of Fire Smart Territory
5 credit
Restoration techniques for areas traveled
In this credit the problems of the evaluation of the damage to the plants will be dealt with immediately after the passage of the fire, to the simplest diagnoses that can be activated on the ground, with the identification of sustainable interventions on the main forest formations existing on the regional territory: conifer reforestation deciduous coppices.
The recovery techniques for the formations degraded by remote events will be the object of illustration (forging the coppices, etc.).
