The course aims at providing students with the theoretical and practical tools for financial decision-making in tourism firms, and for related economic valuations. This is an advanced corporate finance course that involves learning through the use of real cases and with specific reference to dynamics featuring the tourism industry and sustainability issues. By the end of this course students will be able to apply the main methodologies of project and corporate valuation, with a particular focus to enterprises in tourism.
By the end of this course, the student should have acquired
(1) Knowledge and understanding: Develop a consistent ability to analyze investment decisions in tourism with the aim of creating value for shareholders and the environment.
(2) Applying knowledge and understanding: Use conceptual tools for the understanding and valuation of corporate decisions in tourism, as well as for the choice of capital allocation by potential investors.
(3) Making judgements: Develop skills to evaluate the economic convenience of investment decisions by tourism firms, while dealing with the related sustainability issues.
