Practical training (12 hours)
Practice hours are held in the following sites: Laboratory Animal Enclosure (authorized from the Minister of Health), Computer Room, Didactic Laboratory and Veterinary Didactic Hospital (clinical rounds). Practical trainings are carried out in 3 groups to better guarantee didactic quality; each group consists of a number of about 10-12 students. Clinical rounds groups are composed of two students each.
Training topics of practical trainings (decided each year):
Use of the handbook of veterinary drugs for prescription. How to prescribe veterinary drugs using the veterinary electronic receipe . Experimental animal models: animal enclosure for experimental use; testing legislation; welfare of laboratory animals used for scientific purposes. Dilutions of pharmaceutical solutions and calculation of the quantity of drug to be administered to animals depending on the dose. Didactic Veterinary Hospital (clinical rounds): importance of posology and therapeutic answer after drug administration (active ingredient, used dosage, route of administration) and evaluation of clinical modifications. Check of the educational goals acquired in the Didactic Veterinary Hospital during the exam.
In the event of cases of positivity to COVID-19, lectures will be carried out remotely using the Microsoft Teams platform in accordance with current regulations.
