Two written tests and a final oral exam.
The course aims to provide the basic knowledge about the structure of matter and its properties, the chemical bonding and the principles underlying the chemical reactions. It also provides the basic knowledge about the chemical properties of the elements and of their most important compounds.
Atomic structure and atomic theory. The periodic classification of the elements. Chemical Bond. Lewis structures. VSEPR theory. Hybrid orbitals. Oxidation state. Periodic table and periodical properties. Chemical properties of the elements and their most important compounds.
Equilibrium law. Acid base Arrhenius e Bronsted-Lowry theory and pH calculations.
