Assessment Methods

Verification of learning:

The written test for the language module must be passed before taking the oral examination regarding the linguistics module.
1. Written test. It includes the following types of exercises: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, use-of-English, written composition, knowledge of the topics dealt with in the language class.
2. Oral language exam: testing communication skills.
3. Oral exam based on the contents of the linguistics module.

Objectives

This 12-credit course is divided into two parts:
1. a linguistics module (30 hours of face-to-face lectures) – 6 credits;
2. a language module (75 hours of face-to-face language lessons) – 6 credits.

Linguistics: This module aims at strengthening Chinese grammar knowledge to an intermediate level. In particular, the module will present the morphological, lexical and syntactical structures, as well as the basis for translation skills from Chinese to Italian. At the end of the module, the student will have achieved linguistic analysis skills of the intermediate level literary text.

Language lessons: The module aims to provide a vocabulary of about 900 words, to consolidate and develop the structures learned in the first year of study. The student will also be able to converse on specific topics and write compositions in Chinese. At the end of the module, the student will have obtained an advanced elementary level of Chinese language.

Contents

Linguistics: the program includes the study of:
a) adverbs; b) particles; c) prepositions and d) conjunctions. For each of those, the study will focus on three aspects: classes, grammatical functions and grammatical features with exercises.

Language lessons: The program includes an annual teaching which includes units 10-16 of the book "Il Cinese moderno a Sassari” (vol. 1 e 2). Topics concerned are: (1) structural and aspectual particles; (2) complement of result, degree, potentiality and duration; (3) expressions regarding "shopping", "eating", "holiday" and "weather ".

The final score is made by: the average result of the score in the written and oral language test; the average between the written-oral language test’s result and the result of the linguistic test will make the final score. The partial score of the written test is valid for two years. Every single test must be passed (sufficient). If the student does not pass the exam in its entirety within two years, he or she needs to take the exam again according to the current teaching program.
