The course is organized in face-to-face lessons integrated by laboratory activity that give the knowledge on eukaryotic cell structure and on
mechanisms, vesicle trafficking included, aimed at the maintaining of chemical difference of compartements and organelles, related to their functions. By analyzing cell processes related to differentiation, students understand cell peculiarities in the different tissues. Regulatory mechanisms of the cell cycle and implications of apoptotic cell death and stem cell component in tissue turn-over are examined in depth. At the end of the course, the knowledge acquired is apllied, during laboratory activities, to morphological and functional analysis of cell structures and organelles, also in relation to specificity of the different animal tissues.
