Objectives

The student will have to learn teorethical knownledge, practical capacity and methodological criteria in evaluating sciences.
1) The student must acquire the skills to understand and measure the phenomena of health and illness
2) The student must acquire the knowledge to draw and carry on a research project
3) The student must acquire knowledge to draw and carry out an epidemiological study
4) The student must acquire knowledge in the field of statistical and epidemiological analysis of the sanitary data
5) The student must acquire knowledge about the inferential analyzes

Evidence-based medicine. Observational and experimental studies. Design of a scientific study. Assessment of a scientific article. Statistical terminology. Variables. Principles of uni-, bi-, and multivariate statistics. Frequency distribution. Plots and tables. Central tendency indicators. Variability indicators. Principles of probability. Bayesian probability. Diagnostic test indicators. Normal probability distribution. Population and sample. Sampling techniques. Hypothesis test. Correlation and regression.
Definition of epidemiology. Historical evolution of epidemiology. Source of data. Demographic data. Measurement in epidemiology. Direct and indirect standardization. Descriptive epidemiology.
