The aim of the course is to give the student the basic skills for understanding the phenomena concerning health and disease and to interpret their main interrelationships within communities, according to the principles of Evidence Based Medicine and Evidence Based Prevention, also in relation to to gender differences. At the end of the course the student must demonstrate:
- the knowledge and understanding of the epidemiological methodology;
- the ability to solve an epidemiological problem (reconstruct an epidemic, estimate risk measures, identify bias and standardize rates)
- the knowledge and understanding of the principles of prevention;
- the ability to apply the principles of prevention according to Evidence Based Prevention (evaluate the screening, evaluate the effectiveness of a vaccine)
