Objectives

Students must prove:
- to know the main subjects of the program;
- to know the nomenclature of chemistry and being able to represent the molecular structure;
- to balance chemical reactions and solve basic stoichiometry problems;
- to describe various classes of organic compounds, their nomenclature, structures and properties, with particular attention to characteristic reactions;
- to have basic knowledge of biological molecules such as carbohydrates, lipids, protein and heterocyclic compounds.

Basic concept on the matter
Atomic structure, radioactivity and chemical periodicity
Chemical bonds
Nomenclature rules for classification of compounds
Chemical equations and chemical formulas
Stoichiometry and chemical reactions
Solutions and colligative properties
Acids bases and salts, self-ionization of water, pH, buffer solutions
Chemical Kinetics and chemical balance
Oxidation and reduction
Organic chemistry and propedeutical biochemistry :
Hybridization of carbon, classification of chemical reactions, isomers
Idrocarbons, alcohols, thiols, phenols, ethers, thioetheers
Amines, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids and derivates
Amino acids and proteins, lipids, carbohydrates
Heterocyclic compounds, nucleic acids.
